VBS 2012 – Traveling the World for Missions – June 10th-June 14th.

The whole world in God's Love.

The Vacation Bible School World-wide journey begins on June 1oth and lasts through June 14th. Join us to explore how much God loves the whole world.

The journey begins with a Kick-off Luncheon on Sunday, June 10th when we’ll be sampling cuisine from around the globe. Get your tastebuds tickled by delicious dishes from India, Bolivia, and the deep south of America.

God's love speaks every language.

The journey continues every evening, Monday-Thursday, from 5-8:00pm with fun hands-on activities, lessons from real-life missionaries, and virtual explorations to places near and far-flung!  Are you an Explorer? A Travel Agent? Or an Ambassador of Peace? You get to choose your own adventure and see how God’s love can follow you to every corner of the earth.

Planning has begun and all are welcome to help! See Ginna Reid, our Children’s Leader, to learn more.

Celebrate Pastor Suze, Sunday June 3rd: We’ve come a long way, baby! Join us to honor the time and talents Pastor Suze has shared with us over the last three years and send her off in style to Burkhead UMC in Winston Salem. We will salute her during the service and host a reception in the commons area afterwards.

Welcome Rev. Ernest “Sonny” Reavis. We are excited to welcome Rev. Reavis as our pastor, beginning in July. He and his wife, Sharon, a math teacher, come to us from Ward Street Mission UMC in High Point. His first Sunday with us will be Sunday, July 15th.

Homeward Bound Welcome Kits

Homeless in Asheville

Homeward Bound of Asheville (the group also responsible for Room in the Inn) moved 28 people out of homelessness and into their own apartments last month! But with new digs come new needs, and these people are without some very bare necessities. We have an opportunity to help by making “welcome kits” to be presented on moving day.

A complete list of items is below. Your Sunday school class or ministry team may choose to work together on an entire kit, or individuals can bring in separate donations. Bring all donations to the church and we will get them to the Homeward Bound office.Visit the Homeward Bound site for information on this and more good work.

Welcome Kits

  • sponge
  • paper towels
  • all-purpose cleaner
  • toilet paper
  • bar of soap
